Game Overview
The Legend of Zelda came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986, developed and published by Nintendo. It was one of those games that felt different from the start, a big adventure on a console that was still finding its footing. You got a gold cartridge, which was unusual, and the game itself didn't treat you like a beginner; it just set you loose. You control a boy named Link, exploring the land of Hyrule from a top-down perspective, screen by screen. Your main goal is to collect the eight pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom, hidden in dungeons, to eventually rescue Princess Zelda from Ganon. You fight monsters with your sword, use a shield to block attacks, and find items like the bow or bombs to solve puzzles and access new areas. The game is deliberately paced and can be quite difficult, with secrets that aren't obvious and enemies that hit hard. It feels like a real journey, where every discovery is something you earned yourself.
