Super Team Games
About This Game
Super Team Games is a sports and fitness game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in North America in November 1988. Developed by Sonata and published by Nintendo, it is part of the Family Trainer series, originally introduced in Japan as Family Trainer 7: Famitore Daiundoukai. Unlike most NES games, Super Team Games is designed around the Nintendo Power Pad, a floor mat that lets players control the action with their feet.
The game turns your living room into a miniature athletic arena filled with obstacle courses and team competitions. In the single-player and two-player modes, you can race against the computer or challenge a friend across events that test your speed, timing, and coordination. Courses include log hopping, wall jumping, crossing water, crab walking, and navigating obstacles while racing toward the finish line.
There are several ways to compete. Obstacle Course A and Obstacle Course B feature different combinations of challenges, while the Super Obstacle Course brings them together into a longer test of endurance. You can also take part in skateboard races, where quick reactions help you avoid obstacles and maintain your momentum. The unusual Bubble Run and Belly Bump Ball events add extra variety to the competition.
For group play, Super Team Games offers team-based activities that can involve up to six players. Friends can work together in relay races, tug-of-war contests, and the entertaining Six-Legged Race. These events make the game feel more like a physical party activity than a traditional controller-based sports title.
Because movement depends on stepping on the correct Power Pad panels, playing requires physical effort as well as quick thinking. Its distinctive controls and multiplayer focus make Super Team Games a memorable example of Nintendo's experiments with interactive fitness games during the 8-bit era.
Gather your friends, put on your Power Pad, and get ready to run, jump, race, and cooperate in this unusual retro sports experience.
