Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight

Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight is one of the strangest games to carry the Street Fighter name on a Nintendo Entertainment System. Released by Capcom in 1990, it looks at first glance like it should belong to the same world as the company's famous martial arts fighting games, but the reality is completely different. This is a fast-paced science-fiction action platformer that mixes shooting, acrobatic movement, boss battles, and demanding level design. Capcom itself describes the game as a side-scrolling action game with an original storyline rather than a traditional fighting game.

The unusual nature of the game becomes even more interesting when its history is considered. In Japan, the game was released as 2010: Street Fighter, and the protagonist was named Kevin. For the Western release, Capcom changed the hero's name to Ken and rewrote parts of the story so that the character appeared to be the futuristic version of Ken from the Street Fighter universe. This created a connection that did not really exist in the original Japanese version.
