About This Game

Mappy-Land is a classic platform game developed by TOSE and originally published by Namco for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. The North American release followed in 1989 under the Taxan label. Starring Mappy, the cheerful mouse police officer from Namco's original arcade game, this NES-exclusive sequel turns a simple search for stolen presents into a colorful adventure filled with mischievous cats, tricky platforms, and hidden routes.

Your mission is to help Mappy recover six special items in each stage while avoiding Nyamco and his gang of troublesome Meowkies. Depending on the story, you may be collecting cheese for Mapico's birthday, wedding rings for a future marriage, Christmas trees for a holiday celebration, or baseballs for Mappy Jr. Each item must be gathered before you can leave the stage and continue your journey.

The game features eight themed areas, including Railroad Town, Western World, Tropical World, Jungle World, Pirate World, Ghost Town, Seventh Avenue, and Milky Town. Ladders and trampolines help Mappy reach different platforms, but timing is essential because enemies constantly pursue him. You can also use unusual weapons and stage-specific objects to distract or defeat your feline opponents. Fireworks, fish, and bowling balls are among the playful tools that make the action different from a typical platform game.

Mappy-Land contains four stories, each with its own collection goals and increasingly challenging stage layouts. Players must learn enemy patterns, plan their jumps, and search carefully for items and exits. Its bright graphics, distinctive characters, and imaginative environments give the game plenty of personality.

For fans of classic Namco titles, retro platformers, and colorful 8-bit adventures, Mappy-Land offers a charming challenge that expands the world of the original arcade game.
