The Krion Conquest

The Krion Conquest is a classic NES action platformer developed and published by Vic Tokai, released in North America in January 1991. Known in Japan as Magical Kids Doropie, this unique retro game combines fast-paced platforming, magical combat, and science-fiction storytelling. Players take control of Francesca, a powerful young witch who must defend Earth against an invading army of robotic enemies.

The story takes place in 1999, when the Krion Empire launches a massive invasion of Earth. The alien robot army overwhelms humanity's conventional weapons and threatens to bring the entire planet under its control. With the world on the brink of destruction, Francesca is called upon to fight the invaders and destroy their heavily guarded military bases.

Unlike many traditional NES action games, The Krion Conquest gives players access to several magical abilities from the beginning. Francesca can switch between different types of magic, each offering a unique advantage in combat. Her normal shot provides reliable attacks, while the freeze spell temporarily immobilizes enemies. The fire ability transforms her into a powerful phoenix that can eliminate enemies across the screen. Other abilities include bouncing projectiles, a protective shield, and a magical broom that helps her travel across gaps and reach difficult areas.

The game features five rounds, including underground, ice, underwater, and sky bases, followed by a final space station. Each round contains challenging stages filled with robotic enemies, dangerous traps, and powerful bosses. Players must carefully manage their health, select the right magical abilities, and master their timing to survive the increasingly difficult encounters.

With colorful 8-bit graphics, memorable music, and gameplay reminiscent of classic action platformers, The Krion Conquest offers a challenging experience for fans of vintage Nintendo games. Its combination of witchcraft and futuristic warfare makes it a distinctive title in the NES library. Join Francesca, unleash powerful spells, and fight to save Earth from the relentless Krion Empire.
