Ninja Crusaders
About This Game
Ninja Crusaders is a challenging side-scrolling action platformer developed by NMK and published by American Sammy for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1990. Combining classic ninja combat with science-fiction elements, this intense 8-bit adventure sends players into a devastated world where alien invaders have overwhelmed Earth's defenses.
The invasion has left humanity on the brink of extinction, but a small group of surviving ninjas refuses to surrender. Two skilled warriors, Blade and Talon, are chosen to fight back against the alien forces and destroy their leader, Inimicus. Armed with traditional ninja weapons and extraordinary transformation abilities, they must battle through dangerous territory to reclaim the planet.
Players can wield four different weapons: shuriken throwing stars, a kusarigama chain weapon, a bo staff, and a sword. Each weapon offers a distinct combat style and grants access to a different animal transformation. The shuriken allows the ninja to transform into a fast, powerful-jumping tiger, while the kusarigama enables transformation into a sea scorpion suited to underwater movement. The bo staff unlocks a flying falcon form, and the rare sword grants the ability to become a devastating dragon for a limited time.
These transformations are more than visual effects; they are essential tools for overcoming obstacles and navigating different environments. Knowing when to use each form can help you survive difficult sections and defeat enemies more efficiently. However, the game is unforgiving, as a single hit can cost a life, making careful movement and precise timing crucial.
Ninja Crusaders also supports two-player cooperative gameplay, allowing friends to fight side by side against the alien invasion. Its demanding combat, varied weapons, unusual transformations, and relentless enemies make it a memorable challenge for fans of classic ninja games.
Take up your weapons, master your animal forms, and join Blade and Talon in their desperate mission to save Earth in this action-packed NES adventure.
