About This Game

Krazy Kreatures is a colorful puzzle game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990 by American Video Entertainment. Developed by Bitmasters, this unusual NES title puts players in the role of an intergalactic immigration officer responsible for sorting strange creatures arriving from across the universe. What sounds like a simple job quickly becomes a frantic challenge as the screen fills with increasingly large crowds of bizarre alien animals.

The objective is to move creatures around the playing field and line up matching types so they disappear. Depending on the creature, you may need to arrange three, four, five, or even six of the same kind in a row. Matches can be formed horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, giving you several ways to clear space. However, new creatures continue to arrive, and the board becomes more crowded as the game progresses. If the available space fills completely, the game is over.

Krazy Kreatures combines the planning of a matching puzzle with the pressure of an arcade challenge. You must decide which creatures to move, where to place them, and how to create matches before the growing crowd blocks your options. Once you clear enough creatures in a round, new arrivals temporarily stop, giving you a short bonus period to remove additional groups and earn extra points.

The game features 32 waves of increasing difficulty, with different board layouts and faster-moving creatures keeping each stage fresh. You can play alone or compete with a friend, choosing cooperative or competitive modes for a different kind of challenge.

Although it was released on an unlicensed NES cartridge rather than through Nintendo's official publishing program, Krazy Kreatures has earned a following among fans of original puzzle games. Its simple rules, unusual characters, and increasingly frantic gameplay make it a distinctive hidden gem for retro gaming enthusiasts.
