About This Game

Knights of the Round is a classic side-scrolling beat 'em up for the Super Nintendo, developed by Capcom and based on the legendary tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Originally an arcade game, the SNES version brings its fast-paced medieval combat to the home console, offering intense action, colorful graphics, and cooperative multiplayer gameplay.

Players can choose from three knights: Arthur, Lancelot, and Perceval. Each character has a distinct fighting style, speed, strength, and weapon, giving players different ways to approach the adventure. Arthur offers a balanced play style, Lancelot is faster and more agile, while Perceval relies more heavily on raw strength and powerful attacks.

The objective is straightforward: fight through waves of enemies, collect items, and advance through a series of medieval environments. Players use swords and other weapons to defeat knights, soldiers, and increasingly powerful opponents. Blocking, attacking, and timing movements correctly are essential, particularly when facing larger groups of enemies or difficult bosses.

One of the game's most enjoyable mechanics is its horse-riding sections. Players can mount horses and use them to charge through enemies, adding variety to the otherwise traditional beat 'em up formula. The game also includes food and treasure pickups that can help players survive longer and improve their score.

Knights of the Round is especially memorable when played cooperatively. Two players can team up and fight through the adventure together, combining their characters' strengths against groups of enemies and challenging bosses. This multiplayer option captures much of the excitement of the original arcade experience.

Visually, the game features detailed medieval environments, colorful character sprites, smooth animations, and impressive combat effects. Capcom's distinctive 16-bit presentation gives the SNES version plenty of personality while retaining the atmosphere of the arcade original.

For fans of classic beat 'em ups, medieval action games, and Capcom's arcade titles, Knights of the Round is an excellent Super Nintendo experience. Its responsive combat, three playable knights, horseback battles, cooperative gameplay, and memorable fantasy setting make it one of the standout beat 'em ups on the SNES.
