Ocean Software released Jurassic Park for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, a time when movie tie-ins were common and often unforgiving. This one stood out for its ambitious split between two distinct gameplay styles, offering a top-down adventure and first-person shooter segments that felt quite different from other platformers of the era.

You control Dr. Alan Grant, tasked with shutting down the park's security systems and escaping the island. The game shifts between an overhead view where you explore jungles and facilities, avoiding or stunning dinosaurs with tranquilizer darts, and first-person sections inside buildings where you navigate mazelike corridors and operate computers. You collect keycards to access new areas and ammunition to defend yourself, all while managing a limited inventory. The pacing is tense, and the difficulty is steep, with instant deaths from raptors or dilophosaurs feeling frequent and punishing. It feels like a constant scramble for survival where every screen transition brings new danger.
