Mighty Bomb Jack
About This Game
Mighty Bomb Jack is an action platform game developed and published by Tecmo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Released in North America in 1987 following its Japanese debut in 1986, this sequel to the original arcade game Bomb Jack expands the series with scrolling stages, hidden treasures, challenging enemies, and a daring mission to save a kidnapped royal family.
Step into the role of Jack, a caped hero who must enter a dangerous pyramid to rescue King Pamera, the queen, and the princess from the evil demon Belzebut. Across 16 levels, you will explore mysterious chambers, navigate platforms, avoid monsters, and collect bombs and valuable treasures while racing against the clock.
Unlike the original Bomb Jack, which focuses on single-screen arcade action, Mighty Bomb Jack introduces side-scrolling and vertically connected areas that give its adventure a stronger platforming feel. Treasure chests hide useful items, including special coins that change Jack's abilities. Depending on the color, these coins can help him open chests or temporarily turn enemies into valuable coins. Mighty Drinks also provide extra time, making them especially useful during difficult sections.
The game rewards exploration, but rushing in without a plan can be dangerous. Hidden passages, secret rooms, and bonus challenges offer opportunities to earn points or advance through the pyramid. However, players must balance collecting treasures with completing each stage before time runs out. Gathering too many special coins or accumulating too much time can even send Jack into a challenging Torture Room, adding an unusual twist to the adventure.
With its colorful 8-bit graphics, energetic soundtrack, distinctive power-ups, and demanding level design, Mighty Bomb Jack offers a memorable challenge for fans of classic Nintendo games. Explore the pyramid, master Jack's jumping abilities, uncover hidden secrets, and take on Belzebut in this action-packed retro platformer.
