About This Game

Based on the hit 1992 Christmas comedy, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York brings Kevin McCallister back for another adventure, this time in the busy streets of New York City. Developed by Imagineering and published by THQ, the NES version arrived in October 1992, challenging players to help Kevin survive far from home while avoiding the familiar troublemakers Harry and Marv.

The story follows the film’s central setup: Kevin becomes separated from his family and finds himself alone in a huge city. Unfortunately, the Wet Bandits are also in New York, and they are determined to get revenge after their earlier encounter with the resourceful youngster. Players guide Kevin through several locations inspired by the movie, including the Plaza Hotel, Central Park, city streets, and his uncle’s townhouse.

Gameplay combines side-scrolling platform action with combat and item collection. Kevin must run, jump, and dodge enemies while gathering useful objects to defend himself. His moves include sliding attacks and powerful punches, while items such as a dart gun provide additional ways to deal with threats. Food and other pickups can help Kevin along the way, but the city is full of hazards, from hostile characters to dangerous obstacles hidden inside buildings.

Unlike the first NES Home Alone game, which focuses on setting traps inside a house, this sequel emphasizes direct action across multiple urban environments. Players need quick reactions and careful timing to get past enemies and keep Kevin moving toward his next destination. The difficulty can be demanding, making progress feel like a test of persistence as much as reflexes.

For fans of the film and classic 8-bit games, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York offers a distinctly early-1990s movie tie-in adventure starring one of cinema’s most recognizable mischievous kids.
