About This Game

Released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, Darkwing Duck is an action platformer developed and published by Capcom, based on Disney’s animated television series of the same name. The game stars Drake Mallard, the masked crime fighter who protects the city of St. Canard from dangerous criminals. When the secret organization F.O.W.L. launches a crime wave across the city, Darkwing receives a mission from the intelligence agency S.H.U.S.H. to stop the villains and bring their leader, Steelbeak, to justice.

The adventure takes Darkwing through six challenging stages, each featuring different environments, enemies, and hazards. Players can begin by choosing from three available missions, with additional stages opening as the story progresses. Along the way, Darkwing faces familiar enemies such as Megavolt, Bushroot, and Quackerjack, each presenting a different challenge. After clearing all six missions, the hero must infiltrate F.O.W.L.’s floating fortress for the final showdown with Steelbeak.

Darkwing’s main weapon is his Gas Gun, which can fire at enemies while he jumps between platforms, dodges traps, and explores each level. Special ammunition adds variety to combat, including Thunder Gas, Heavy Gas, and Arrow Gas. Each type has different properties, so choosing the right weapon can make certain encounters easier. Darkwing can also use his cape to deflect some incoming projectiles, adding a defensive option to the fast-paced action.

With colorful graphics, responsive controls, memorable cartoon characters, and gameplay reminiscent of Capcom’s Mega Man series, Darkwing Duck is a standout Disney platformer from the NES era. It combines classic side-scrolling challenges with the humor and personality of the original cartoon.
