About This Game

Super Spike V'Ball is one of the most energetic sports games available on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Released in North America in 1990 and developed by Technōs Japan, it takes beach volleyball and turns it into a fast, aggressive arcade-style competition where powerful spikes, diving saves, blocks, jump serves, and precise teamwork matter far more than realistic simulation. The game is based on Technōs' arcade title U.S. Championship V'Ball, but the NES version was adapted with its own modes, teams, and tournament structure.

Unlike many NES sports games that concentrate on one player controlling an entire team, Super Spike V'Ball focuses on two-on-two beach volleyball. Every match takes place on a relatively small court, which means there is very little time to react once the ball crosses the net. A successful rally can quickly turn into a desperate scramble as both teams try to set up the perfect attack.

The basic rules are easy to understand. One team serves the ball, the opposing team receives it, and each side can make up to three contacts before sending the ball back over the net. The first contact is normally a bump, the second is used to set up the attack, and the third is where the player attempts to deliver a spike. The game manual specifically emphasizes this three-hit rhythm because understanding it is essential to becoming effective at the game
