Power Punch 2

Power Punch II is a boxing game developed by Beam Software and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1992. Published by American Softworks, this unusual sports title takes traditional boxing beyond Earth, challenging players to face a collection of powerful alien fighters in a tournament to determine the greatest boxer in the universe.

You play as Mark “Tough Guy” Tyler, an undefeated heavyweight champion who has already conquered the best fighters on Earth. After boldly claiming that nobody can defeat him, Tyler attracts the attention of the Intergalactic Boxing Federation (IGBF). He is invited to compete against 12 extraordinary opponents, including metallic cyborgs, powerful mutants, and other unusual challengers from across the galaxy.

The matches use a behind-the-boxer perspective, placing you directly in front of your opponent. Success depends on carefully timing punches, dodging incoming attacks, and learning each fighter's distinctive patterns. Simply throwing punches continuously is rarely enough to win. You must study your opponent's movements, find openings, and strike when the opportunity appears. Powerful special attacks called Power Punches can help turn a difficult fight in your favor.

Training is another important part of the experience. Between groups of fights, you can participate in training activities to improve Mark's abilities, including strength, speed, and endurance. These upgrades can make a significant difference when facing increasingly difficult opponents.

Although its title may suggest a direct connection to Nintendo's Punch-Out!! series, Power Punch II is a separate game with its own characters and intergalactic storyline. Its unusual science-fiction setting, colorful opponents, and challenging one-on-one battles give it a distinctive place among classic NES sports games.

Step into the ring, sharpen your boxing skills, and challenge the toughest fighters in the galaxy. Defeat every contender and prove that an Earth heavyweight can become the undisputed champion of the universe in Power Punch II.
