About This Game

Laser Invasion is a multi-style action shooter developed and published by Konami for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991. The game puts you in the role of a military operative on a dangerous mission to stop an enemy force from deploying a powerful new weapon and rescue a captured undercover agent. Instead of sticking to one type of gameplay, Laser Invasion mixes aerial combat, first-person shooting, and maze exploration across four challenging missions.

Each mission begins with helicopter combat, where you pilot an attack helicopter through hostile territory. You must target enemy aircraft and ground defenses, manage your fuel and damage, choose suitable missiles and equipment, and land safely at enemy bases. Once on the ground, the action switches to shooting sequences in which enemy soldiers, gun emplacements, and other threats stand between you and your objective. Some sections also require you to explore confusing 3D-style mazes, search for useful items, and find your way through enemy installations.

Laser Invasion supports the standard NES controller and compatible light-gun accessories, including the NES Zapper. The North American release also promoted Konami's LaserScope voice-activated headset, giving the game a distinctive place among the system's shooting titles. Players can adjust several options before starting, including control settings and the number of lives.

With its changing gameplay styles, military atmosphere, and demanding missions, Laser Invasion offers a different kind of action experience from a traditional side-scrolling shooter. It is a notable Konami release for players interested in classic NES shooters, light-gun games, and unusual experiments from the 8-bit era.
