About This Game

Family Feud brings the excitement of the popular television game show to the Nintendo Entertainment System, turning survey questions and everyday knowledge into a lively competition. Developed by Beam Software and published by GameTek in May 1991, this trivia game recreates the familiar format in which two families compete to guess the answers most commonly given by a group of people. Instead of testing players on obscure facts, the game rewards them for thinking about what other people are likely to say.

Players can compete against the computer or challenge a friend in a two-player game. Each team consists of five family members, and the goal is to uncover the most popular responses to a series of survey questions. Topics range from everyday habits and household items to food, entertainment, and common situations. Every correct answer earns points according to its popularity, so finding the top response can be much more valuable than guessing something unusual.

The rules follow the television show's familiar format. Teams take turns trying to reveal the answers hidden on the board, but three incorrect guesses give the opposing family an opportunity to steal the points. This creates plenty of tension as players decide whether to risk another answer or let their opponents take control. The family that reaches the required score advances to the Fast Money bonus round, where quick thinking and a good understanding of popular opinions become especially important.

One unusual feature is the way answers are entered. Rather than typing freely, players navigate through letters using the NES controller to spell out their responses before time runs out. It takes some practice, but the system adds an extra challenge to the timed rounds.

With its colorful game-show presentation, recognizable rules, and competitive format, Family Feud is a fun alternative to action-heavy NES titles. It's particularly enjoyable for players who like trivia, party games, and friendly competition.
