About This Game

Released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in April 1993, Casino Kid II takes the original game's card-playing challenge beyond the casinos of the United States and into an international gambling championship. Developed and published by Sofel, this sequel keeps the focus on poker and blackjack while introducing roulette, new opponents, and a world map that gives the adventure a broader sense of scale.

The story picks up after Casino Kid has defeated America's top gamblers and earned the title of national champion. A mysterious organizer now wants to test his skills against the best players from around the world. Your mission is to travel between destinations, challenge nine formidable opponents, and uncover the identity of the person behind the tournament.

Unlike the first game, where you explored a casino floor to find your next rival, Casino Kid II lets you select opponents from a world map. Each challenger specializes in one of three games: five-card draw poker, blackjack, or roulette. Winning requires more than simply knowing the rules. You must decide how much to wager, manage your money carefully, and recognize when a risky bet is worth taking. Some opponents must be defeated before you can challenge the toughest players, adding a little progression to the competition.

Roulette is a particularly notable addition, expanding the gameplay beyond the card tables. Password support also allows you to save your progress and return to the international tournament later.

Casino Kid II is a niche but memorable entry in the NES library. Its deliberate pace and gambling-focused gameplay won't appeal to everyone, but players who enjoy card games and strategic betting may find its international tournament structure a refreshing change from traditional platformers and shooters.
