Super Mario Kart came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, developed and published by Nintendo. The main goal is straightforward: finish three laps before your opponents, either alone or with a friend. The signature mechanics include picking up item boxes that give you offensive or defensive tools, like shells to throw or bananas to drop as traps, and mastering the drift around corners to maintain your speed. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can spike on later cups, especially when the AI gets aggressive. It feels chaotic and competitive in the best way, especially when you barely avoid a well-placed green shell.
